WEEK 47 “DEALING WITH THE STORMS IN LIFE!” (Part 2) Mark 4:35-41

READ MARK 4:35-41

4.SHARE YOUR PROBLEM WITH THE ONE WHO CAN HELP! (vs 38) Even though the disciples were lacking faith in this storm, they came to the right person for help! They cried out for help from the only one who could change the situation- Jesus!! Do we run to And cry out to Jesus for help in the midst of our storm? James 5:13 says if anyone is in trouble, HE SHOULD PRAY! (See Jonah 2:2, 2 Kings 19:14)

5.vs 38- LEARN TO MINISTER FROM EXPERIENCE! The disciples asked Jesus “Don’t you CARE if we drown?” Jesus showed them He cared by calming the storm!!

Years later, in 1 Peter 5:7, Peter is now able to share with the church from this personal experience in the storm of knowing that JESUS TRULY DOES CARE FOR US and we can therefore cast all our cares onto Him!! (See 2 Corinthians 1:3-4)

YOUR STORM CAN BECOME THE VERY EXPERIENCE GOD CAN USE AS YOUR TESTIMONY TO HELP OTHERS!!

6.vs 39- SPEAK DIRECTLY TO THE PROBLEM! Notice that this passage says Jesus REBUKED THE WIND and SPOKE TO THE WAVES! He spoke directly to the problem and commanded it to be still!! In Matthew 17:18-20 and Mark 11:23, we are called by Jesus to speak directly TO THE MOUNTAIN just like Jesus rebuked the demon and spoke to the fig tree directly!! And in Acts 16:18 the apostle Paul spoke directly to the evil spirit to cast it out of the slave girl!!

vs 39- we also see that Jesus rebuked the WIND and spoke to the WAVES! Jesus addressed both the UNSEEN (wind) and SEEN (waves) problems that caused the storm! We too as followers of Jesus need to allow the Lord to address both the SPIRITUAL and PHYSICAL problems in our life!

Notice that once the wind died down, it became completely calm and the waves stopped? Usually it is the spiritual problem that manifests in the physical!! LEARN TO DEAL WITH THE SPIRITUAL UNDERLYING PROBLEM!

7.vs 40- in this verse, FEAR is associated with lack of FAITH!! In Matthew 14:31, DOUBT is associated with having little faith. In Matthew 6:30-31, Jesus said WORRY is associated with little faith!!

LEARN NOT TO FEAR, DOUBT OR WORRY IN JESUS’ NAME!! Let faith in Jesus overcome your fear, anxiety and doubt!!

8.vs 41 the storm gave the disciples a GREATER REVELATION OF WHO JESUS WAS!! Jesus is the one who can control nature also!! THERE IS A BIGGER PURPOSE BEHIND THE STORM!
