YEAR 2, WEEK 8: 1 TIMOTHY 2:1 “4 KINDS OF PRAYERS”

Ephesians 6:18 tells us to pray in the Spirit on all occasions, with ALL KINDS OF PRAYERS!!

Let us look at 4 kinds of prayers that Paul tells Timothy to offer in 1 Timothy 2:1!!

HOW WE SHOULD PRAY:

1.SUPPLICATION- entreating/asking God for a need!! (Philippians 4:6)

In Luke 1:13, Zechariah’s prayer (supplication) for he and Elizabeth to have a baby was heard by God and answered!

2.PRAYER- speaking to God/communicating with God about various things!! (Luke 11:2)

3.INTERCESSION- praying to God on behalf of or for others!! (Romans 8:26-27,34, Ephesians 6:18-19, Colossians 4:3)

4.THANKSGIVING- showing gratitude to God!!! Grateful language!! (2 Corinthians 9:12, 1 Thessalonians 5:18)

We see 3 of these types of prayers mentioned also in Philippians 4:6! (Prayer, supplication and thanksgiving)

May we learn to offer The Lord these kinds of prayers as we grow in more INTIMACY with Him!
