YEAR 2, WEEK 10: “THE GROWTH OF MARY AND MARTHA”

(READ LUKE 10:38-42 and John 12:1-3)

MARTHA went from serving Jesus DISTRACTED, with an attitude of COMPLAINING and COMPARISON (see Luke 10:40), to serving Jesus without any of these shortcomings (John 12:2)!

MARY went from SITTING AT JESUS’ FEET, LISTENING to every word He said (Luke 10:39), to ANOINTING JESUS’ FEET with an expensive perfume and wiping His feet with her hair (sacrificial generosity and offering)!!

We see that both Mary and Martha grew in their relationship with Jesus!!

LORD JESUS, MAY I LEARN TO SERVE YOU UNDISTRACTED, WITHOUT COMPLAINING OR COMPARING, AND MAY I GROW IN INTIMACY WITH YOU THAT LEADS TO SACRIFICIALLY SERVING YOU!
