WEEK 33 “INCREASE OUR FAITH” (Luke 17:5)

(Read Luke 17:5, Romans 10:17, James 1:2-4, 1 Peter 1:6-7, Ephesians 4:11-14)

This was spoken by Jesus’ disciples in Luke 17:4-5, when He told them that they should be willing to forgive their brother 7 times in a day if they repent. The disciples recognised that it would take increased faith to be able to forgive someone who keeps sinning against you over and over again and that is why they came to Jesus to ask! IT TAKES FAITH TO FORGIVE!

We see from this passage that one way our faith can increase is by simply COMING TO JESUS AND ASKING HIM! (In Mark 9:24, the father of a demon-possessed son told Jesus “I do believe, help me overcome my unbelief.”)

So, what does the bible say are other ways we can increase our faith in Jesus?

1.According to Romans 10:17, FAITH COMES BY HEARING THE WORD OF GOD!!!

2.According to James 1:2-4 and 1 Peter 1:6-7, our faith is matured and proved genuine by TRIALS IN OUR LIFE!

3.In Ephesians 4:11-14, the scripture says God has appointed some to be Apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers and evangelists to equip God’s people and lead them to UNITY and MATURITY IN THE FAITH!! Thus, whenever we gather together as the Church, and use our spiritual giftings and callings to build each other up, our faith is increased and matured!!

4.In 1 Corinthians 12:9, one of the gifts that The Holy Spirit gives is FAITH!

5.According to Mark 9:24-27 and John 14:10-11, the MIRACLES THAT JESUS DOES can help us overcome unbelief and Increase our faith!!

Prayer: Jesus, I come to you now and ask that you would INCREASE MY FAITH! Help me overcome any unbelief in me. Help me to spend more time IN YOUR WORD, and to realise the TRIALS YOU LET ME GO THROUGH are there to strengthen my faith! Help me to commit to gathering with other Christians each week so my faith can be matured in You!! Please let me see your MIRACULOUS hand at work to help stir my faith by your Holy Spirit!
